What most may think of as a fly-over state (or a drive-through state if you’re an RVer like us) is actually full of hiking trails, paddling rivers and waterfalls. Illinois is home to the Shawnee National Forest which is home to towering bluffs, families of bald eagles and well-maintained trails. Enjoy the beaches on the shoreline of Lake Michigan in the summer where you can take out boats and catch bass, trout and salmon.
